I’ve used the CXE, the PXE and the Talon X1 and they are all exceptional.

They excel at control and spin, as the unique texture helps grab the ball and generate spin.

The Silent Storm SS1 has the same texture and is insanely cheap – great for beginner or intermediate players.

• Talon X1 – Power, control, spin, touch, quiet (disorient your enemy!) – this one has it all
• PXE – Basically just a cheaper version of the Talon – slightly smaller sweet spot, but a great paddle and compares to much pricier paddles

My take:

Unless I am mistaken, this is the only Canadian brand with a Pro player collab paddle (signature paddle). This brand offers great paddles at prices that can’t be beat. From beginner paddles to advanced, the quality and value of these is impossible to beat!

My Best picks from this brand:

• MK47 Pro – Designed alongside Maria Klokotzky, Canada’s #1 ranked female pro, this paddle is what the Boomstik failed to be and what the Selkirk Omni tried to be. Adjustable weights, Gen 5 foam (not Gen 4 like the Selkirks) plus EVA foam ring, it really is the best of all worlds. The light handle keeps fast hands at the net that you typically only see in widebody paddles.
• Hyperfoam HF-1 – A great foam paddle at an affordable price, however I’d likely grab the MK 47 Pro for an extra $20 if you’re looking for foam
• Olympian Series – A few paddles ion this category to choose from – if you prefer the Gen 3.5 paddles (Honeycomb with foam injected edges) then any of these will be a great paddle for you!

My take:

These have by the far the most durable outsoles of any shoes I’ve seen – The rubber is made of Vibram for many of their shoes – I immediately recognized this from rock climbing – if it’s used for rock climbing shoes, you know it’s durable!

I also have a friend that has had a pair for over 2 years and plays regularly on the roughest local courts and barely has any wear at all.

These shoes also have great ankle support and a wide toe box (seems to be wider toe box than Acacia)

My take:

I’ll be the first to admit – these are overpriced.

I eventually got my pair after I got tired of my glasses fogging up. I tried popping the lenses out of multiple pairs of sunglasses and safety glasses and found the ball could still reach my eye through them or they partially blocked my vision.

I eventually decided, while these are pricey and honestly a bit goofy looking, they work and I play a lot of pickleball so they’d be worth it long term.

• Slim Fits – I’d never have thought a slim fit would be what I need but these do fit me well and I prefer them over the larger fit
• Fun colors – they are always releasing new colors. You can go standard to try and make them not stand out, or embrace the blockers and get bold fun colors!

Everyone who values their eyesight! Seriously, damaging or even losing an eye is not worth it! If conventional safety glasses bother you with fog and/or glare, these are the ticket!

My take:

These are amazing custom insoles that form to YOUR foot at a fraction of the price of typical custom orthotics hence the Your Sole name!

I have been using custom insoles like these for some time, and while they aren’t magic, every bit helps when playing on hard surfaces – less joint, foot and back pain is always a good thing!

These aren’t your gel or fluffy insoles, they are firm and supportive giving you what you actually need versus what feels “comfy”.

My Best picks from this brand:

• Active – My favorite, especially since I promote wide toe box in shoes. I usually get Medium since it is enough to give great support without crowding your foot into your shoe and the Active sole will last a long time.
• Performance – Another great option utilizing cork. Better for the planet, and naturally good for odor control though will wear out quicker than the active.

Every player who wants to minimize joint, back, hip and foot pain while maximizing court time and realize a “one size fits all” insole is not the ticket.

PB Vision is a website/app that uses AI to analyze your games!

You can upload your games and it will give you an estimated DUPR rating for each game. While this can be valuable, I personally find the other insights it gives you much more valuable as it will show you shot quality, accuracy, your strengths and weaknesses, your play style and more!

They are also now integrating with Chat GPT so you can download an analysis and upload it to Chat GPT to get plain English insights into your game.

The rating is useful, but more useful in seeing how you stack up against your opponents than anything else.

It does have a generous amount of free “minutes” of AI analysis, but if you really like it, a subscription gives you lots more. If you spend any money on coaching or clinics, then their yearly subscription will likely be well worth it to you.
