My Experience With Kitchen Blockers
I’ve personally used Kitchen Blockers and think they’re one of the more interesting pieces of pickleball-specific gear I’ve added to my setup.
The biggest thing I like is the lens-free design. Traditional sports glasses can fog, scratch and create glare, and I found Kitchen Blockers much less distracting while playing. Once I got used to the frame, I generally didn’t notice them while playing.
They’re also specifically designed around pickleball rather than being adapted from another sport. Kitchen Blockers currently offers Classic and Slim fits, with adjustable arms and nose pieces to help get the fit right. The company also includes a removable strap and foam pads with the eyewear.
The Slim Fit is designed for narrower faces, while the Classic is the larger option. If you’re between sizes, the adjustable design gives you some flexibility.
Kitchen Blockers says its eyewear has been independently tested against a pickleball traveling at 60 MPH. That’s one of the things I like about the product: it’s designed specifically around the kind of impact pickleball players can encounter at the kitchen line.
Who Should Consider Kitchen Blockers?
I’d recommend Kitchen Blockers to pickleball players who want eye protection without traditional lenses, particularly if you’ve found regular protective eyewear uncomfortable, foggy or distracting.
I think they’re especially worth considering for players who spend a lot of time at the kitchen line, where fast exchanges can put your face pretty close to the ball.
If you’ve been thinking about getting some form of pickleball eye protection but haven’t found a pair you actually want to wear, Kitchen Blockers are worth a look.
