My Take on EVOLV
EVOLV is a newer paddle brand taking a fairly balanced approach to paddle design. Rather than building its identity entirely around power or control, the company emphasizes a combination of power, control, feel and durability. Its paddles use a precision-molded CarbonSkyn surface designed to provide spin while maintaining touch and responsiveness.
The current Origin is particularly interesting as an all-court option. It uses an EPP core with EVA perimeter and TPE reinforcement, along with a multilayer carbon construction and CarbonSkyn surface. EVOLV describes it as offering controlled power, a generous sweet spot and a balanced feel across the baseline, transition zone and kitchen.
I like the overall direction EVOLV is taking. There are plenty of paddles competing for attention by emphasizing maximum power or maximum spin, so a brand putting more emphasis on a well-rounded, predictable paddle is a nice change of pace.
Who Should Consider EVOLV?
EVOLV is worth considering if you’re looking for a modern all-court paddle that aims to balance power, control, spin and feel rather than heavily favoring one characteristic.
The Origin’s extended 5.75-inch handle also makes it particularly relevant for players who use a two-handed backhand or want additional leverage, while its lightweight design is intended to help with hand speed and maneuverability.
