Code of Conduct

Above all, be courteous. This page may be updated frequently so please check it frequently.

While most games posted are DUPR rated games, please refrain from taking things too seriously. We are all just trying to have fun.

Rules:

  • Please follow all official Pickleball rules, with the exception of the rule stating someone can’t wear clothing of similar color to the ball. Pickeball FYI is a free app with all the rules.
  • Include “1” or “2” at the end of the score. Relying on memory is a poor way to play, especially in rated games. If you can’t remember if you’re “1” or “2” then assume you are “2”. Only if every other player agrees you were “1” should the team be allowed another serve. It is technically a fault to not call the entire score, so let’s play the game correctly. (Section 7.F: Violation of Section 4, Section 9 and Section 11 rules [Section 4.A.1: The entire serve must be called before the ball is served])
  • Out/In calls are to be made by the players who are on the side where the ball landed.
  • If unsure, you may ask the opposing side their opinion.
  • If you can’t definitively call the ball “out” it is “in” by default. This includes if teammates have opposing opinions as in 1 “in” and 1 “out” call creates doubt and therefore ball is in.
  • Do not argue line calls. If your opinion is asked you can give it but the final decision always lies with the team on the side where the ball landed.
  • Serves that land on the kitchen line are “out”
  • Serves that land on ANY part of the center line are “in”. Generally the serving side actually has a better view so defer to the serving side if not absolutely sure.
  • Foot faults can be called by any player – the player who did it, their partner or any opponent. Keep it honest.
  • If an opponent makes a call that the ball touched you (your paddle or you body), you have the final decision on whether you did or not. Again, be honest.
  • Any ball hitting the outside post is “out” as the posts are out of bounds.
  • For nets that have a horizontal post (portable nets), the following rule applies: if the ball falls onto the post when moving over the net, the rally will be replayed. This does not mean if someone drives the ball into the post, it usually happens when a ball hits the top of the net and rolls over.

Behavior:

  • Absolutely no prejudiced behavior regarding a players age, weight, race, sex, religion or sexual orientation or for any other reason.
  • Refrain from excessive “coaching” of your partner. Most players feel this is laying blame on them and tend to play worse than if you say nothing.
  • Do not berate your partner or any other player.
  • No throwing your paddle (officially this is considered a fault), kicking anything, hitting anything, etc. We all have self-directed outbursts sometimes and that’s OK, but keep it reasonable.

Banned Paddles:

Please do not use banned paddles. Even in Rec play this is frowned upon, and most Dink Dynasty games are rated. They are banned for a reason.

List of banned paddles:

  • All Joola Gen 3 paddles – including Persueus, Scorpeus and Hyperion (Gen 2 paddles of the same name are not banned)
